Panaji: Eight Congress MLAs, including former Goa chief Minister Digambar Kamat, on Wednesday, joined the ruling BJP. Angry over the rebellion in the Congress, the party's Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh has fiercely attacked the rebel leaders. Talking about the defection of Goa Congress MLAs, Jairam Ramesh today said that only two types of people leave the Congress. Jairam Ramesh said that in the first category, those who have got everything from the party are included.

Citing the example of former Jammu and Kashmir CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jairam Ramesh said, "The first category includes those who have benefited a lot from the party. Ghulam Nabi Azad is an example. He got everything from the party. He got everything in the party from youth Congress president to PCC president, Union cabinet minister, general secretary etc. Only those who benefited from the Congress are kicking and leaving the party.''

Referring to the other type of people, Jairam Ramesh said, "In the second category, there are those who are in the grip of investigating agencies. They will leave Congress and join the BJP. As soon as they join the BJP, they will be clear. Look at Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. He is the best example. There is not a single case against him. But, when he was in Congress, the BJP used to attack him every day. Now he has become CM and BJP is completely silent.'' Ramesh further said that the Goa MLAs who left the party also belong to the same second category.
