Union Home Minister Amit Shah defended his recent comments on the restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir during a public rally in Giridih, Jharkhand, on Thursday. Addressing the crowd, Shah boldly stated, "Even four generations of Congress won’t be able to bring back Article 370."
The rally, which followed the first phase of Jharkhand’s assembly elections, saw Shah criticize the opposition, particularly Congress. He promised that if the BJP were to win power, it would take strict action against infiltration and Naxalism. “I want to tell the infiltrators that CM Hemant Soren’s government is going to end, and your time will also come to an end. The BJP will throw you out of Jharkhand. Those who have encroached on the land of tribals, we will bring a law against them,” Shah declared.
Shah also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his opposition to the Waqf bill amendment, accusing him and Soren of opposing measures to amend the law. He pointed out that the Waqf board in Karnataka had declared certain villages, temples, and lands as Waqf property, which included centuries-old temples and farmer lands. Shah emphasized that the BJP would push for an amendment to the Waqf Bill, despite resistance from Congress leaders.
Earlier, Shah had made another statement on Article 370, asserting that it would not be reinstated even if former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, a Congress icon, were to return. He also took aim at Congress over its stance on Muslim reservations, accusing them of deliberately blocking the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya for years.
The first phase of Jharkhand's assembly elections concluded with voting across 43 constituencies on Wednesday. The second phase is set for November 20, covering 38 constituencies. Vote counting will take place on November 23.
