Wayanad By-poll:
In Wayanad, a deeply emotional scene unfolded as landslide survivors cast their votes amid tears and remembrance of loved ones lost in the July tragedy.
The survivors, who lost over 200 people and saw hundreds displaced in the landslides in Mundakkai, Chooralmala, and Punchirimattom, gathered to vote in the by-poll.
Special vehicle services were provided to help survivors reach polling stations from their temporary shelters. The grief of the survivors was palpable, but their determination to vote stood strong as they remembered those who had cast their votes in the previous general election.
Madhya Pradesh By-polls:
In Madhya Pradesh, by-elections are taking place in two assembly constituencies—Budhni and Vijaypur. The voter turnout till 3 p.m. was recorded at 65.08% in Budhni and 67.01% in Vijaypur.
Early reports indicated a 51.16% turnout in Budhni by 1 p.m., and 54.86% in Vijaypur. The pace of voting has picked up in these constituencies.
Rajasthan By-polls:
Over 52% voter turnout was recorded till 3 p.m. in Rajasthan's seven assembly seats on November 13, 2024.
A minor altercation was reported in Deoli-Uniara (Tonk), where an independent candidate slapped a magistrate during voting, following a local boycott.
The highest turnout was 60.74% in Ramgarh, while Deoli-Uniara recorded 49.82%. Voting will continue until 6 p.m., and the counting is scheduled for November 23, 2024.
Assam By-polls:
Assam's five assembly seats saw a high voter turnout of 64% by 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The highest turnout was recorded in Bongaigaon at 66.94%.
Despite minor incidents of violence in Samaguri and Behali, voting has continued peacefully, and no disruptions were reported at polling stations. The polling process has been smooth, with people arriving at booths as early as 5:30 a.m.
Polling Status:
The by-poll voting continues across various states, and the Election Commission reports that the process has been largely peaceful, with voter participation high. In Wayanad, survivors showed resilience, even as they remembered the loss of their family members in the devastating landslides.
