Panaji: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress General Secretary, pledged 30 percent job reservation for women if her party wins the upcoming Goa assembly elections. She blamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is vying for a big role in Goa's election politics, and accused it of being responsible for air pollution in Delhi, where Arvind Kejriwal's party is in power.
Priyanka Gandhi visited Morpirla village in the Quepem assembly segment during her day-long visit to the coastal state, where she talked with tribal women. The Congresswoman also performed a traditional dance with the tribal ladies.
People should check what these parties have done in states where they are in power before voting, she said. "Only the Congress party would work for you." She stated that if the Congress is elected to power in the state, 30% of the job will be reserved "just for women."
She said, a balance between development and environmental protection must be maintained. She also promised to address issues such as water scarcity and unemployment in Goa, where legislative elections are scheduled until early 2022.
P Chidambaram, former Union Finance Minister, AICC Goa desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar, and party spokesman Altone D'Costa were also in attendance.
