Panaji: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has recently ordered his party leaders in Goa to launch an aggressive election campaign in the state. At the same time, he also said that the defeat of the ruling BJP should be ensured. Let me tell you all that Goa is going to go to assembly elections in February next year. Dinesh Gundu Rao, in charge of the Goa desk of the Congress, recently made a statement. In this statement, he said, "Gandhi said this at a meeting with party leaders in New Delhi on Friday.''

Besides him, senior party election observer P Chidambaram, General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar and Congress Legislature Party leader Digambar Kamat attended the meeting. In a recent statement, Rao said, "Our leader Rahul Gandhi wants the Congress party in Goa to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the state and respect their sentiments.''

He further said that Gandhi has asked party leaders to launch an aggressive campaign in the upcoming assembly elections and ensure the defeat of the BJP. At the same time, he said, "We will take our well-wishers and supporters along in our victorious march towards elections 2022. We are confident of defeating the BJP.''

All of you must know that in the 2017 Assembly elections in Goa, Congress had won the highest number of 17 seats in the 40-member Assembly while the BJP had won 13 seats. In that case, the BJP had formed an alliance with the regional parties and came to power. Over the years, the number of Congress MLAs in the Assembly has come down to five and many of its MLAs have joined the BJP.
