Nowadays our dependence on the phone has increased a lot. The phone contains our personal data, bank details and many important information, which can become a big problem if stolen. If the phone is stolen, not only the device is lost, but there is also a risk of the data present in it being leaked. In view of this, Google has taken a great step and introduced three new safety features, which will work on Android 10 and later versions. Let's know about these features.
Google's Theft Protection Features
Google has recently released three new security features under Theft Protection, which will help protect your data if the phone is stolen. These features are being rolled out through Google Play Services, and will gradually become available in all Android phones.
Theft Detection Lock: Automatic lock as soon as the phone is stolen
Google's new Theft Detection Lock feature is very smart. It detects whether the phone is stolen or not based on the phone's sensors, Wi-Fi and other smart device connections. If the phone is unlocked by an unknown person, this feature automatically locks the screen. This keeps your personal data safe and the thief is unable to see or use it.
Offline Device Lock: Security even without internet
The special thing about this feature is that it works even without an internet connection. If your phone is stolen and the internet is turned off, you can still lock it. Google has laid down some conditions for this feature, such as the phone should be in regular use and the screen can be locked only twice a day. This feature proves to be very helpful when a thief tries to misuse the phone.
Remote Lock: Lock the phone remotely
If your phone is stolen, you can lock it remotely using Google's Remote Lock feature. For this, you have to register your phone by going to android.com/lock in advance. This feature completely locks your data in case the phone is stolen. One special thing is that you can also lock your phone using the phone of a trusted person.
Testing done in Brazil, global launch will happen soon
Google first started these features in Brazil. Now gradually these features are being rolled out all over the world. Currently it is available on some Android phones like Pixel and Samsung. If this feature has not come in your phone yet, then wait a bit. Soon these features will be available for all Android users. These new theft protection features of Google are very beneficial to deal with the problem of phone theft. These not only keep your device safe, but also protect your personal data from being stolen.
