Panaji: The Trinamool Congress (TMC), which has been continuously inducting leaders of other political parties into the party in Goa, has now suffered a major setback. A former Goa MLA who joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) about three months ago has resigned accusing Mamata Banerjee's party of being grossly communal. Former MLA Lavoo Mamledar, who announced to quit TMC, said the party was trying to create division between Hindus and Christians for votes ahead of the state assembly elections.

He said, "I joined the TMC in September because I was impressed by Mamataji's performance in the 2021 assembly elections and her attitude towards high-command culture. But after the alliance between TMC and the MGP (Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party) on 5th November, we saw its gross communal form. Lavu also alleged that the party is also collecting people's data in the name of gathering information for the schemes.

The former MLA further said, 'TMC launched the 'Laxmi Bhandar' scheme. Under this, he promised rs.500 per month to the women of West Bengal. But in Goa, he promised Rs.5,000, which is impossible. When a party feels defeated, it makes false promises. Lavu Casedar had joined the TMC in the last week of September. He was among the early leaders of the state who decided to join the TMC.
