Panaji:major trouble has arisen for the Congress in Goa. Within five months of the assembly elections, there has been talk of changing the face of 5 out of 11 Congress MLAs. Congress has said that it is not able to contact the five MLAs of the party. The Congress has accused two of its MLAs - Michael Lobo and former CM Digambar Kamat - of "conspiring" against the party in connivance with the BJP. Congress has also removed Michael Lobo from the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. Party's Goa in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao has given information in this regard.

Let me tell you that the same thing happened in Goa three years ago today. Then 10 MlAs of the Congress joined the BJP together. Congress has 11 MLAs in the 40-seat assembly. Out of these, there is talk of 5 MLAs joining hands with the BJP. Dinesh Gundu Rao has informed that Michael Lobo, Digambar Kamat, Kedar Naik, Rajesh Faldesai and Deliala Lobo are not being contacted. He said That Elton D'Costa, Sankalp Amonkar, Yuri Alemao, Carlos Alvares Ferreira and Rudolf Fernandes are with the party. The sixth MLA, Alexo Siqueira, is in touch with party leaders and is with congress.

At present, discussions of changing the line of 5 Congress MLAs are being resolved. If these five MLAs switch sides to the BJP, the anti-defection law will be applicable to them. Under this, there will be a crisis in their MLA membership. Goa Congress in-charge Rao said that if five MLAs change sides, they will have to contest again, as they do not have the support of two-thirds of the MLAs. Therefore, the anti-defection law will apply to them. According to reports, the five rebel MLAs have refused to comment on the entire development. However, sources close to the BJP said that the rebel MLAs are in touch with them.
