Chennai: The BJP has strongly criticized Tamil Nadu Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan for using a derogatory term against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labeling the usage of the offensive language as "a nauseating act".
During a public election campaign event, Radhakrishnan, the state Minister for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, remarked that the Prime Minister inaugurated projects honoring figures like Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Kamarajar merely to secure votes.
“You erected Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s statue to seek Patel community votes. Such disgusting tactics are used by Prime Minister Modi,” he added.
The DMK leader also commented on Modi's recent address in Salem, Tamil Nadu, stating that Modi spoke about independence activist Kamarajar "as though they embraced him and brought him to the front".
In response, the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit tweeted condemnation, stating that Radhakrishnan spoke "disgustingly" about Modi, who "hails from a humble background and has dedicated his entire life to the people of India".
The tweet also alleged that DMK MP Kanimozhi "stood witness to this nauseating act", adding that this behavior is consistent with the political culture of the DMK.
Further, the BJP accused Kanimozhi of enjoying the speech on stage without condemning the use of the offensive term, suggesting hypocrisy in her stance on feminism.
The BJP concluded by asserting that the people will deliver a fitting lesson to the DMK and its alliance, and that the law will also take its course, predicting a decline in the political fortunes of the DMK-led "Rising Sun" alliance.
