Mumbai: The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance also got a huge majority in the Maharashtra elections. After the Mahayuti came to power once again, the Congress is in a state of grief. It said on Sunday that the party and other allies of the Maha Vikas Aghadi are going to collectively introspect on the reasons for the defeat.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance won 230 out of 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra on Saturday and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi got only 46 seats. On this, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has said that the results of the assembly elections in Maharashtra are shocking and unbelievable.
'We are unable to understand what happened' : He told a TV channel that 'We are unable to understand what happened. This was not just the defeat of the Congress party, but it has proved to be the defeat of the entire Maha Vikas Aghadi. First we have to clearly understand what has happened. After the defeat in Maharashtra and Haryana, we have started feeling surprised at the entire election process.
Defeat is failure of all of us : Venugopal: Reports say that when asked if the grand old party suspects any kind of rigging in the Maharashtra election results, he has also said that he is not making such allegations immediately after the defeat. He has also said that, 'We have suffered a huge setback in the stronghold of Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and Congress. This is the failure of not only the Congress party but the entire alliance. Therefore, we will sit together and collectively introspect on the reasons for this.'
Who got how many seats?: The Election Commission has announced that BJP has won 132 seats, Shiv Sena 57, while Ajit Pawar's NCP has won 41 seats. While in MVA, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) candidates have won 10 seats, Congress 16, while Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has won 20 seats.
This was said on Priyanka's victory: If reports are to be believed, when asked about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's victory with a huge majority in Wayanad, the Congress General Secretary said that this is the result of the efforts of the party leaders and workers. He further said about this, 'The party was expecting such a huge majority in Wayanad. Immediately after the voting, there was a lot of concern about the majority. But after the internal evaluation of the party, we were confident that the low voting percentage would not defeat Priyanka's majority.'
He also made it clear that the Wayanad tragedy and its aftermath could be one of the issues that Priyanka will raise in the Lok Sabha. Rejecting the opposition's repeated campaign of not coming to Wayanad, Venugopal said that she will prove them wrong with her actions. He continued his talk by saying that Priyanka will continue her interference in North Indian politics along with being the MP of Wayanad.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in the by-election held on Saturday by a margin of over 4 lakh votes, completely beating the victory margin of her brother Rahul Gandhi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
