Panaji: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa has suffered a major setback ahead of the assembly elections. State Minister Michael Lobo has resigned from the post of minister and legislature. Now it is being told that Lobo can take the hand of Congress. Talking to the press after his resignation, Lobo said that he is upset with the functioning of the party. However, he has not blamed him for his decision by naming any leader from the Center or Goa.
Lobo said, "I was upset with the treatment being done to me. The grassroots workers are ignored. I have seen with my own eyes, heard with my ears. The party has become so big that it no longer appreciates the contribution of grassroot workers. Many people came to me with complaints. There are ups and downs in the party, but the workers should not be ignored. Lobo further said, 'I have been saying this for a long time, but no one was ready to listen. I felt we were sidelined.
Lobo said that he is in talks with several political parties, but no decision has been taken on what his future will be. Let us tell you that Lobo was among the more vocal members of the Pramod Sawant cabinet. He is the third Christian MLA to resign from the party. The trio said that the party has taken a different turn after the death of former CM Manohar Parrikar.
