New Delhi: In the lead-up to the Lok Sabha election just a week away, political parties have ramped up their campaigning efforts. As per the regulations set by the Election Commission of India, leaders have disclosed their assets. According to an analysis conducted by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), independent candidate Ponraj K from the Toothkudi constituency in Tamil Nadu has emerged as the candidate with the least assets in phase 1 of the Lok Sabha election 2024, with assets totaling just Rs 320. Conversely, Congress candidate Nakul Nath has emerged as the wealthiest candidate, with assets valued at Rs 717 crore. The ADR report has scrutinized 1618 candidates across 102 constituencies that are slated for polling in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election 2024.

Similarly, Kartik Gendlalji Doke, contesting from Maharashtra's Ramtek (SC) constituency, and Suriyamuthu, running in Tamil Nadu's Chennai North constituency, both independent candidates, reported movable assets of Rs 500 each, with their total assets also at Rs 500. G Dhamodharan, representing Tamil Nadu's Arani constituency as an independent candidate, disclosed movable assets worth Rs 1,000, with total assets matching that amount. Lastly, J. Sebastian, standing [SUCI(C)] in Tamil Nadu's Chennai North constituency, declared movable assets of Rs 1,500.
