A case has been registered against an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and 20 others in Gujarat's Narmada district for attacking a restaurant owner. Police said that the case has been registered against AAP MLA Chatar Vasava, elected from the Dediapada seat in 2022, and his associates. The incident took place on the night of September 16, when restaurant owner Shantilal Vasava asked the MLA to pay the bill. At this, the MLA got angry, and he allegedly abused and assaulted him.
Dispute over paying the bill: Shantilal Vasava said in the complaint that when he called Chater Vasava and asked him to pay the restaurant bill, the MLA felt bad and got angry. After this, Chater Vasava along with his 20 companions reached the complainant's house and beat him up by slapping him. It is alleged that the MLA and his companions also threatened to kill the restaurant owner.
Charges filed in FIR: Based on the complaint of Shantilal Vasava, the police have registered a case under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections include rioting, unlawful gathering of crowds, intentionally causing injury, insults, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy. The police have started investigating the case, and further action will be taken soon. This incident is a serious case of violation of law by an MLA, and anger is being seen among the local people regarding this.
