The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly (TNLA) will commence its next session on December 9 at 9:30 a.m., according to a notification issued by the TNLA Secretary, K. Srinivasan. The session will be held at the Assembly Hall in the State Secretariat in Chennai.

This session is expected to be contentious, with the opposition raising concerns about the state government’s handling of law and order. The issue of the Adani-TANGEDCO connection is also set to be a major point of discussion, especially following the US bribery allegations involving the business tycoon. Additionally, the state’s response to the recent rains during the North East monsoon season will likely come under scrutiny.

This session will mark several political milestones. It will be the first since Udhayanidhi Stalin, the DMK youth wing secretary, was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. He is now second only to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in the state cabinet. Furthermore, the session will see the return of Ministers V. Senthilbalaji and S.M. Nasar, along with the induction of Ministers R. Rajendran and Govi. Chezhiaan. These changes follow a significant reshuffling of portfolios in September.

The Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, M. Appavu, shared that the House's Business Advisory Committee will determine the session's duration.
