A significant controversy has emerged in Karnataka involving Hassan BJP-Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) candidate and incumbent MP Prajwal Revanna and his father, HD Revanna, the son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. The scandal revolves around viral explicit videos linked to Prajwal Revanna, with a domestic worker from the Revanna household accusing him and his father of sexual harassment. Prajwal Revanna has denied the authenticity of the videos, calling them 'morphed,' but the Karnataka government has launched a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the allegations.
Prajwal reportedly left India for Frankfurt before the SIT was announced. A 47-year-old domestic worker who worked at Prajwal Revanna's residence accused him and his father of sexually assaulting and harassing female workers. She claimed that HD Revanna would summon women to the storeroom, touch them inappropriately, and sexually assault them.
The videos purportedly showing Prajwal engaging in sexual activities with multiple women have circulated widely in Hassan district, prompting protests from the Congress party and demands for Prajwal's immediate arrest. Prajwal Revanna, 33, is the grandson of JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha election in Hassan, defeating BJP's A Manju by a significant margin.
