MUMBAI: A day after the Supreme Court's verdict on the 2002 political crisis in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut on Friday termed the 11-month-old Eknath Shinde-led state government as unconstitutional and claimed it would fall in three months. Will go Sanjay Raut said that on Thursday, the Supreme Court said an important thing in its decision and due to the political crisis, the then Governor B.K. S. Flaws were found in the conduct of Koshyari and the Speaker.
Sanjay Raut said, “This government is completely illegal and unconstitutional. The Supreme Court has said 3 things. Whip Bharat Gogawale (appointed by the Shinde faction and recognized by the Speaker) is illegal. The orders given by the illegal whistleblower are illegal. The court has made it clear that our whip Sunil Prabhu is a legal (constitutional) whip." Sanjay Raut said that The Supreme Court has considered all the decisions taken by the then Governor wrong, including proving majority in the house. The court declared Eknath Shinde as the leader of the group (after his rebellion from Shiv Sena) as illegal. The court has said that no faction (of the Shiv Sena) can claim itself to be the old party.
Attacking the Uddhav Thackeray group for demanding the resignation of Eknath Shinde, the ruling Shiv Sena said that if there is any morality left in them (the MLAs of the Uddhav group), they should resign and face the elections. The Shinde-led Shiv Sena fielded several party leaders, including the CM's son, to hit back at the Shiv Sena (UBT) by holding a press conference. In the press conference, Shiv Sena asked whether breaking the pre-poll alliance, under which Thackeray sought votes with the BJP and then forging an alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress in 2019, is it not a betrayal of the people of the state? Kalyan MP and CM Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde alleged that Thackeray was trying to mislead people so that those who broke away from his faction did not join the ruling Shiv Sena.
