Tilaknagar Industries has introduced Monarch Legacy Edition, a premium 100% pure grape brandy that combines the elegance of French and Indian grape spirits. This launch marks the company's entry into the luxury brandy segment, further enhancing its legacy as a pioneer in the Indian brandy market. Established in 1933, Tilaknagar Industries is known for iconic brands like Mansion House Brandy, celebrated as the world’s second most-sold brandy.
The creation of Monarch Legacy Edition reflects decades of expertise and innovation in distillation. This premium blend features French grape spirits aged for up to eight years in French oak casks, alongside Indian grape spirits sourced from the Sahyadri region of Maharashtra. Crafted using traditional coal-fired copper pot stills—techniques synonymous with French Cognac—the brandy uniquely marries French craftsmanship with Indian terroir.
Bridging French Elegance and Indian Craftsmanship
Tilaknagar Industries’ distillery, located in Shrirampur near Nashik, has been under the stewardship of the Dahanukar family for nearly 100 years. The distillery has combined French and Indian influences to produce a brandy that exemplifies complexity and finesse, aimed at elevating the stature of Indian brandy globally.
"Brandy is India's second most-consumed spirit, yet it remains underappreciated in the luxury category," said Amit Dahanukar, Chairman and Managing Director of Tilaknagar Industries, during the launch event in Mumbai on November 27. "With Monarch, we aim to reshape this narrative, showcasing Indian brandy on the world stage, much like the global success of Indian whiskies and gins."
Royalty-Inspired Packaging and Sophisticated Flavor
The regal identity of Monarch Legacy Edition is reflected in its luxurious packaging. Its decanter-style bottle features intricate radiating ridges, reminiscent of royal chalices, and a reflective symmetry that enhances the amber liquid inside. At the bottle’s core is a striking golden metal shield-shaped label, complemented by a premium box adorned with images of ancient emperors, delivering a refined experience.
The brandy itself boasts rich grape and fruit aromas, with delicate notes of apple, nutmeg, and subtle tobacco. The smooth palate transitions into creamy oak and indulgent dried fruits, leaving a lasting impression.
"Monarch epitomizes sophistication and luxury, catering to the growing demand among Indian consumers for premium experiences," said Ahmed Rahimtoola, Chief Marketing Officer of Tilaknagar Industries. "As brandy continues to gain popularity in the evolving cocktail culture, Monarch is set to redefine the category and appeal to both Indian and international markets."
