RAIPUR : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday cautioned Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge against telling "lies" on behalf of the Gandhi family. He warned that Kharge would ultimately be "sacrificed" by the Gandhi family if the Congress loses the elections on June 4. Amit Shah's remarks were in response to Kharge's criticisms of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah defended the government's record, asking Kharge, "Kharge ji says, if Modi comes to power, the poor will be destroyed. I want to ask Kharge ji, didn't 25 crore poor people benefit when they were lifted out of poverty? Didn't 80 crore poor people benefit from receiving ration? Didn't the construction of 12 crore toilets, the distribution of gas cylinders to mothers, provision of tap water, and treatment of 7 crore people through health insurance benefit the poor?" Amit Shah questioned why the Congress president would lie for the Gandhi family.
He warned Kharge that if the Congress loses the elections on June 4, the brother-sister duo of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi would remain unaffected, but Kharge would be blamed. Shah made these comments at a campaign rally in Katghora, Chhattisgarh.
