Congress party accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of drawing inspiration from Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister, while discussing the party's Nyay Patra for the Lok Sabha elections. Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary, suggested that Modi must have studied Goebbels' thoughts on propaganda during his MA in Entire Political Science and taken inspiration from him.
Ramesh cited Goebbels' claim that if you tell a lie big enough and repeat it often, people will believe it. Ramesh also highlighted Goebbels' 1941 statement that the English adhere to the principle of lying big and sticking to it. Goebbels, who served as propaganda minister for German dictator Adolf Hitler, was known for his expertise in spreading misinformation and shaping public opinion.
In Modi's recent TV interview, Ramesh accused the outgoing prime minister of lying about the Congress's Nyay Patra. He criticized Modi for allegedly adhering to a motto of 'Asatyameva Jayate' and claimed that the truth is often compromised whenever Modi speaks.
