Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was admitted to a hospital in Mohali early Thursday morning for routine medical tests. This news follows unverified reports suggesting that he had been hospitalized in Delhi after feeling unwell upon his arrival at Chandigarh airport. Officials confirmed that he is currently in stable condition.
A spokesperson for the Chief Minister stated, “He got admitted in the morning to undergo some tests. There are no health issues; these are routine checks that require hospitalization. There's no need for concern.”
The update about Mann's health comes shortly after he met with a large group of assistant professors and librarians, expressing gratitude for a recent High Court decision related to a recruitment matter.
In a recent social media post, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia wished the Chief Minister a swift recovery. His earlier claim that Mann was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi was met with strong denial from Mann’s aides. Majithia posted, “CM Bhagwant Mann has been admitted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali last night in an emergency condition. I hope he is fine. Praying for his wellbeing. Get well soon, CM SAAB.”
In political news, Mann’s government recently made significant changes by inducting five new ministers, all first-time MLAs, in a Cabinet reshuffle. The new ministers—Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Barinder Kumar Goyal, Ravjot Singh, Hardeep Singh Mundian, and Mohinder Bhagat—took their oaths at Raj Bhavan. As part of this Cabinet revamp, Mann has reassigned some of his responsibilities, shedding three portfolios: jail, industry and commerce, and housing and urban development. He now oversees eight ministries, including Home Affairs & Justice, Legal & Legislative Affairs, and Sports & Youth Services.
