Artificial intelligence leader OpenAI is also planning to launch its own in-house browser. Reports say that this browser will integrate with OpenAI's chatbot and give users better and more accurate answers. If it is launched, OpenAi will compete directly with Googlechrome, which has a market share of more than 70 percent.
Browsing with search on OpenAI's platform: OpenAi has recently introduced its search engine SearchGPT, which is available for premium users. This step is a big effort to pit the company against tech giants like Google. Now launching the browser is going to strengthen OpenAi further, as it is also promising to give users an integrated experience of both chatbot and AI based search.
Competitive edge: So much so that OpenAi has shared its browser prototype with various app developers and websites (such as Conde Nast, Redfin, Eventbrite and Priceline) as part of its plan. The main focus of this new browser is to provide a different and new experience from Googlechrome.
Challenging times for Google: The ongoing US Department of Justice (DoJ) lawsuit against Google has given OpenAI a great opportunity. DoJ recently accused Google of maintaining a monopoly in the search market and suggested the company to sell the Google Chrome browser. GoogleChrome, which captures 50% of the US browser market, is the main medium for distribution of Google search. This lawsuit can weaken Google's market hold, which is going to create huge potential for OpenAI.
