Khandwa: The heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh have disturbed people's lives. Narmada river is flowing above the danger mark under Khandwa district. Due to which the Murtakka bridge connecting Khandwa to Indore has been submerged in water and traffic has been completely stopped. Travelers going from Khandwa to Indore now have to go via Khargone.

Giving information, Khandwa Collector Anay Divedi has said that the Narmada River's water level has increased due to the opening of the gates of Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar Sagar Dam. In view of this, the district administration has issued a high alert for the villages coming in the lower areas. Apart from this, alerts have also been issued to the nearby districts of Khargone, Barwani and Dhar district administration. All the ghats along the banks of the Narmada have been submerged in water. The district administration has deployed a disaster management team. Revenue, police and divers teams at various locations are set on alert mode for disaster management.

The water of other tributaries coming under the Narmada Valley region is also coming into the Narmada River. This is the reason that the gates of all the major dams of the state have been opened. All the 23 gates of Indira Sagar Dam and Omkareshwar Sagar Dam are opened and water is being released. Due to the release of large amounts of water, the bridge over the Narmada River has been submerged in water. The Narmada River is flowing almost 1 meter above the danger mark here.
