MG Motor India has introduced its much-awaited electric roadster, the MG Cyberster, through its newly launched premium retail channel, MG Select. A blend of classic design and modern technology, the Cyberster is inspired by the iconic 1960s MG B Roadster and is set to make its market debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025.

The MG Cyberster will be the first model in the MG Select lineup, which aims to bring four new energy vehicles to the Indian market over the next two years. MG Select is designed to cater to the increasing demand for "accessible luxury," with exclusive experience centres planned across 12 cities in India.

The Cyberster boasts a striking combination of retro styling and futuristic elements. Its sleek low-profile design is highlighted by arrow-shaped taillights, a bold rear diffuser, and innovative scissor doors that open with a touch of a button on either the door or key fob. The company said each door opens and closes in five seconds, and dual radar sensors ensure safety while in motion. The car also features an anti-pinch bounce-back system to prevent accidental injuries.

The side profile of the Cyberster includes petal-shaped alloy wheels, a fabric soft-top, and sculpted side skirts, with door handles that seamlessly integrate into the car's accent line. Inside, the cabin is equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel, three wraparound digital displays, and a cascading waterfall-style centre console. The console includes physical buttons for controlling the roof, drive modes, and climate settings, while the instrument cluster reflects a modern gaming-inspired aesthetic, adding to the car's futuristic appeal.

Under the hood, the Cyberster is powered by a dual-motor setup that drives all four wheels. The car delivers an impressive 528 bhp and 725 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. A 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides a range of up to 570 km on a single charge, offering both high performance and practicality for long drives.

The launch of MG Select is a strategic move for JSW MG Motor India, aimed at tapping into the accessible luxury market. As part of this initiative, MG plans to open exclusive experience centres in key cities to showcase its innovative offerings. "The MG Cyberster is a symbol of our ability to combine performance, style, and sustainability in one iconic vehicle," said a company spokesperson.

With a legacy of crafting roadsters and sports cars since 1924, MG has become a forward-thinking brand committed to connected, autonomous, shared, and electric (CASE) mobility. The company’s strong presence in India, including a state-of-the-art facility in Halol, Gujarat, underscores its commitment to blending rich history with future-driven innovation.
