Keshav Prasad Maurya, who was born 7 May 1969, is the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
On 8 April 2016, on the first day of Chaitra, Keshav Prasad Maurya was appointed the Bharatiya Janata Party chief of Uttar Pradesh. Born in 1969, in Sirathu in Kausambhi district, adjoining Allahabad, Maurya went on to study Hindi Literature at the Hindu Sahitya Sammelan in Allahabad.
Maurya's mother is a housewife, while his father was a farmer who had a tea business in Sirathu Nagar. Sumitra Devi, Kamlesh Kumari, and Asha Devi are his three sisters, and Sukh Lal and Rajendra Kumar are his two brothers.
From a young age, Maurya was involved in the RSS and the VHP-Bajrang Dal, serving in roles such as Nagar Karyawah and VHP Pranth Sanghathan Mantri, among others.
He was also an ardent member of the Ram Janmabhoomi and gauraksha (cow protection) movements. Maurya has served as the BJP's regional (Kashi) coordinator for both the Kisan Morcha and the backward class cell.
Despite having failed in his attempts to win in 2002 and 2007, he was successful in his third attempt in 2012, when he became the party's first MLA from Sirathu Tahseel.
On 18 March 2017, he was appointed as the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. He became the first MLA of BJP from Sirathu Tahseel in the year 2012. After two and half-years he became the MP from Phoolpur from BJP. He got the ministries of public works department, food processing, entertainment tax and public enterprises department.
