Karnataka Government Protests in Delhi Against Centre's Financial Actions - The Karnataka Congress government has raised its voice against what it calls unfair financial treatment from the Centre. The government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is demanding the correct allocation of taxes and the release of funds for areas hit by drought.

Minister KH Muniyappa emphasized the seriousness of the situation, labeling the protest as a last resort. The entire Karnataka Ministry, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is set to hold a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi today. They accuse the Centre of biased fiscal policies, which they say have neglected Congress-led Karnataka, particularly in the wake of drought and tax devolution issues.

Minister Muniyappa highlighted the Karnataka government's efforts to secure funds for drought relief, pointing out that despite promises from the Home Minister, Amit Shah, and a report submitted by an expert committee, no funds have been forthcoming from the Centre.

In a publicized move, the Congress government ran ads in newspapers condemning what they describe as financial atrocities committed by the Central government against the people of Karnataka.

Congress leader Srinivas BV criticized Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her reluctance to engage in discussions about tax devolution policies. He urged MLAs from other parties to join the protest, emphasizing that this issue transcends party lines and affects the entire state.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, Home Minister G Parameshwara pointed out the extensive damage caused by last year's severe drought, estimating losses at ₹35 thousand crores. Despite requests for ₹18 thousand crores from the Centre, no funds have been released, adding to the strain caused by delayed GST shares and relief funds for affected areas.

In response, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi accused CM Siddaramaiah of engaging in political theatrics, while former CM BS Yediyurappa criticized the Congress government for what he perceives as unnecessary protests aimed at garnering attention before elections.
