Union Home Minister Amit Shah affirmed that the BJP supports reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes. He accused Congress of spreading a manipulated video of him and emphasized that the saffron party will continue to protect reservation policies. In a press conference in Guwahati, Shah refuted claims that the BJP would eliminate reservations if it won over 400 seats.
He declared the allegations as baseless and clarified that the BJP is committed to protecting reservations for marginalized communities. A doctored video of the Home Minister recently circulated on social media, falsely portraying him as planning to abolish reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs. Congress officials shared the video, suggesting that the BJP intended to eliminate reservation policies. Shah accused Congress of spreading misinformation and cited the filing of an FIR over the altered video.
He claimed Congress's frustration led them to share fake videos of him and other BJP leaders. In response, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the BJP has a history of using videos to discredit individuals through social media. Kharge emphasized the importance of maintaining unity in the country and condemned divisive tactics such as spreading hate speech.
