L-G VK Saxena extended his congratulations and warm regards to the community on Eid, expressing appreciation for their collaboration, which led to peaceful festivities in the capital on Thursday.
In a significant development for Delhi, Saxena noted that there were no instances of prayers being conducted on roads or streets, thanks to the cooperation of the Muslim community and its leaders. This proactive measure mitigated any potential unrest from troublemakers or vested interests. "Through coordinated efforts," Saxena stated, "Eid prayers were conducted exclusively within mosque premises and designated Eidgah areas across the city, ensuring a tranquil and seamless experience for all participants.
" Officials from the L-G House highlighted that this arrangement stemmed from discussions held on April 3 between Saxena and religious leaders, including Imams representing various mosques in the city. During this meeting, Saxena proposed staggered timings for offering prayers, a suggestion unanimously embraced by the leaders. Consequently, most mosques, especially those witnessing large congregations, adopted a two-shift system for prayers, effectively managing crowd density and ensuring a smooth Eid celebration.
