Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren filed his nomination on Friday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Saraikella constituency. He emphasized that the Congress and its allies have lost their relevance in Jharkhand's political landscape, claiming they do not stand a chance in the upcoming elections.

"There is a BJP wave not just in Jharkhand but across the entire country. Nobody will be able to stop this wave. The alliance with Congress holds no significance here, and they are nowhere in this election," Champai Soren said.

Earlier that day, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) announced a new list of candidates, including Ganesh Mehli for the Saraikella seat, who will be competing against Champai Soren, and Ramsurya Munda for the Khunti constituency.

In a related development, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who filed his nomination for the assembly polls, took a jab at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, referring to him as a 'Pravaasi' CM, suggesting he would disappear from the state after the elections. Hemant Soren will contest from the Barhait Assembly constituency.

Kalpana Soren, JMM leader and wife of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, also filed her nomination for the Gandey Assembly constituency, where she is the current representative.

The JMM had previously released its first list of 35 candidates on October 23 for the elections.

On Saturday, the BJP revealed its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand assembly elections, aligning with the JMM-led alliance, which is finalizing its seat-sharing agreements. The BJP will contest 68 seats, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) will take 10, Janata Dal (United) will have two, and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will contest one seat.

The elections for 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand will occur in two phases on November 13 and November 20.
