JAIPUR: Rajnath Singh, along with BJP representatives, has reached in Jaipur for a crucial Legislature party meeting aimed at selecting the next Chief Minister.
The Union Defence Minister and BJP's point person for Rajasthan, Rajnath Singh, arrived on Tuesday to participate in the legislature party conclave, expected to finalize the new Chief Minister's nomination in the state today.
Joining Singh were fellow party observers Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey, greeted warmly by former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the state BJP chief CP Joshi. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, responsible for Rajasthan BJP Elections, also graced the pivotal meeting.
Singh, Tavde, and Pandey were designated as party observers for Rajasthan, entrusted with the task of facilitating this significant decision.
The scheduled meeting, slated for the evening, aims to deliberate and formalize the appointment of the new Chief Minister.
Ahead of the Congress legislative party meeting planned for the same day, Rajasthan BJP Chief CP Joshi stated his lack of aspiration for the Chief Minister's position in Rajasthan.
"The Legislature Party meeting is scheduled for today. The Observers will arrive today. Everything will be crystal clear by 5 pm today. I am not in the race for this position," affirmed Rajasthan BJP Chief C P Joshi.
BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena emphasized the potential for a surprise announcement. "Past analyses were mistaken in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Three experienced national leaders are arriving today as observers. Following discussions based on PM Modi's guidance, the Chief Ministerial candidate will be finalized. We should anticipate a surprise," expressed Kirodi Lal Meena.
BJP MLA and former whip Jogeshwar Garg maintained that any outcome is plausible. "Similar to what occurred in two other states, Rajasthan will follow the same process. The legislative party will convene in the afternoon to decide on the Chief Minister. All three observers will gather in Jaipur and designate the Chief Minister post the legislative party meeting," asserted Jogeshwar Garg.
Senior BJP leader and outgoing Assembly's opposition leader Rajendra Rathore highlighted the dynamic nature of politics. "Politics is a realm of possibilities. Our MLAs will make the call at 4:30 pm today on who will take the helm as CM... It's a historic day for Rajasthan," expressed Rajendra Rathore.
Previously, a gathering of supporters of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, considered one of the front runners for the CM position, convened at her residence last week. Several MLAs and party leaders, including Devi Singh Bhati with his grandson and MLA Anshuman Singh Bhati, also met with Raje.
