Jaipur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda is holding a virtual meeting with newly-elected MLAs in Rajasthan as the party deliberates on government formation in the state. The suspense over the new chief minister continues, prompting Nadda to engage with BJP lawmakers in batches of 30-30 MLAs.
The party has appointed observers for the three states where it emerged victorious in the recent Assembly elections—Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. For Rajasthan, the BJP has designated Rajnath Singh, Vinod Tawade, and Saroj Panday as observers.
As the BJP has yet to announce chief ministers for the three states, speculations abound regarding the next leader for Rajasthan. BJP MLA Baba Balaknath, whose name is in circulation for the chief minister's post, urged people to disregard such discussions and expressed the need to gain experience under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Other potential candidates for the chief minister's position include former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Arjun Meghwal, and Diya Kumari.
“Ignore the discussions going on in the media and social media that came out after the election results. Now, I have to gain experience under the guidance of Prime Minister,” stated Balaknath. Raje secured victory in the Jhalrapatan seat, while Shekhawat and Meghwal did not contest the assembly elections, where the BJP secured 115 seats.
