Bangalore: BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing him of continuing a tradition of the Congress party under Rahul Gandhi of enriching themselves while making false promises to the public. This call for resignation follows the Karnataka High Court's dismissal of CM Siddaramaiah's plea challenging Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot's order of prosecution against him in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.

Chandrasekhar stated, "Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah is perpetuating a tradition of coming into governance in the name of the poor, making fake promises but ultimately enriching themselves and their families. The BJP demands his resignation to facilitate a free and independent investigation into the corruption allegations. Not a single Congress leader in Karnataka is untouched by land scams."

Highlighting the gravity of the allegations, he described the MUDA case as "a very shameful example of how a sitting CM has misused his office to enrich himself and his family." He emphasized the importance of Siddaramaiah resigning to allow for a fair investigation, saying, "The High Court's judgment today paves the way for investigating this alleged corruption scam."

Chandrasekhar further criticized the Congress party, claiming they have failed to deliver on their promises and only aim for corruption. "Karnataka's economy is in deep trouble. They have admitted there is no money for development, and law and order is at an all-time low," he asserted.

In response to the High Court's ruling, Siddaramaiah dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, stating, "BJP and JDS are resorting to political retaliation because I am pro-poor and fighting for social justice. This is a fight against the revenge politics of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government."

Siddaramaiah's petition sought to challenge the Governor's approval for an investigation into alleged illegalities involving the allotment of sites by MUDA to his wife. The High Court's single-judge bench ruled that the Governor's order did not suffer from non-application of mind, affirming the legitimacy of the prosecution sanction.

The allegations against Siddaramaiah include the illegal allotment of 14 prime sites in Mysuru to his wife. The Karnataka High Court had previously granted temporary relief, deferring proceedings until the latest ruling.
