Tech giant Apple is gearing up for the launch of its next-generation iPhone 17 series, expected in September 2025. According to analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Tech Research, significant upgrades are on the horizon for the iPhone 17 Pro models, particularly in camera capabilities and overall performance.

Reports indicate that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature substantial camera enhancements, including a new 48MP telephoto rear camera, an upgrade from the current 12MP lens found in the iPhone 16 Pro models. Additionally, the selfie camera is expected to improve to 12MP.

In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 Pro series is rumored to come with 12GB of RAM, an increase from the 8GB available in the iPhone 16 Pro models. This enhancement is likely to improve multitasking and support for Apple’s AI-driven features. Furthermore, Pu predicts that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will include a smaller "metalens" for its Face ID system, which may result in a narrower Dynamic Island on the front display.

Both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are anticipated to maintain their predecessors' screen sizes, with the iPhone 17 Pro featuring a 6.3-inch display and the Pro Max offering a larger 6.9-inch display. These models are set to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A19 Pro chip, built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process.

Additionally, a new model, the iPhone 17 Air, is rumored to be introduced, potentially replacing the iPhone Plus variant. The iPhone 17 Air, also known as the iPhone 17 Slim, is expected to have a 6.6-inch display and 8GB of RAM, along with Apple’s Dynamic Island and the same A19 chip featured in the standard iPhone 17 model.
