Cases of cyber fraud are increasing rapidly in India. As the use of technology is increasing, thugs are adopting new methods to cheat people. In view of this growing problem, the government has decided to take strict measures. Telecom operators in India have expressed their concern over the new rules of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to be implemented from November 1.

Information about the new rules:  According to these new rules, it will be mandatory to trace transaction and service SMS coming from banks, e-commerce platforms and other financial institutions. Earlier there was exemption on these SMS, but now this process will be implemented. Telecom companies had requested TRAI to extend the time to comply with the rules, and after this the deadline for the rules has been extended to December 1.

Concerns of telecom companies:  Telecom companies say that many key institutions (PEs) and telemarketers are not ready to comply with these new rules yet. Due to this, the delivery of OTP (One Time Password) and other necessary messages may be disrupted. On this issue, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) informed TRAI and appealed to extend the date of implementation of the rules, which was accepted.

Ban on fake calls and messages:  The government is also taking steps to ban fake calls and messages. According to TRAI, telecom operators have been instructed to curb fake calls. Scammers are cheating people through fake calls and messages and emptying their bank accounts, so it is very important to stop this problem as soon as possible.

Compliance with new rules:  As per the new rules, calls and messages coming on the phone will be checked in advance. Telecom operators will identify numbers that may be fake and will immediately block such messages and calls. This will help keep customers safe and reduce cases of cyber fraud.

Advice for users:  All users are advised to be cautious of unknown calls and messages. If any suspicious call or message comes, ignore it and avoid sharing any kind of personal information. It is expected that the incidents of fake calls and fraud will decrease due to the new rules, but users will also have to be vigilant.
