ALIGARH (UTTAR PRADESH): Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)  received a chilling email threatening to blow up its campus, prompting an immediate and intense security response. Police officials confirmed that safety measures were heightened after the email surfaced on Thursday, demanding a ransom of Rs.2 lakh.

Security Sweep Across Campus
A comprehensive search operation was launched with bomb disposal squads and dog teams sweeping the campus thoroughly. Superintendent of Police (City), Mrigank Shekhar Pathak, stated that all sensitive areas, including the Maulana Azad Library, were meticulously checked to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Circle Officer Abhay Kumar Pandey added that the email had been reported by university authorities, prompting the deployment of police units across isolated and crowded spots. Cybercrime experts are now tracing the source of the threatening message.

Ensuring Safety Amid Uncertainty
AMU officials, including the Vice Chancellor, are closely cooperating with the ongoing investigation. While no suspicious objects have been discovered so far, the authorities are determined to leave no stone unturned in safeguarding the university community.

Police are also working to ascertain whether the bomb threat is a hoax or a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace. “Our priority is the safety of everyone on campus, and we are maintaining strict vigilance across the premises,” Pandey assured.

Recent Rise in Bomb Threats

This incident follows a worrying trend of similar threats targeting educational institutions. Earlier on Friday, Delhi Police detained a Class 12 student for allegedly sending bomb threats to multiple schools in the national capital. Around a dozen schools in Delhi and various airports in Uttar Pradesh have faced similar threats recently, all of which were eventually deemed hoaxes.

While AMU awaits the results of the cybercrime investigation, university officials and police continue to maintain high-alert security measures, ensuring the safety and peace of the campus community.
