Following the uproar surrounding Sam Pitroda's controversial remarks, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury sparked further controversy by referring to Indians as belonging to "N-type" and likening some to "Mongolians".
Chowdhury stated, "There are people of 'N' type class in our country, some are like 'Mongolians', some are black, some are white, no denying." This statement came shortly after Pitroda's resignation from the Chairmanship of the Indian Overseas Congress due to backlash over his perceived racist comments.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary, confirmed Pitroda's resignation, stating that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had accepted it. Ramesh said, "Mr. Sam Pitroda has decided to step down as Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress of his own accord. The Congress President has accepted his decision."
Chowdhury's reference to the "negrito" race, associated with dark-skinned people of short stature from the Austronesian region, further fueled the ongoing debate.
Chowdhury's remarks have ignited a fresh wave of criticism, with many condemning his language as divisive and insensitive. The use of terms like "N-type" and "Mongolians" to describe fellow citizens has drawn widespread condemnation, with calls for accountability within the Congress party. The incident underscores the importance of responsible and inclusive language in public discourse, especially from political leaders who hold significant influence over public opinion.
