Popular actor Shekhar Suman and former Congress National Media Coordinator Radhika Khera have officially joined the BJP. The announcement came during a gathering at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, according to news agency ANI.
The move follows the recent affiliations of well-known TV actor Rupali Ganguly and astrologer Ameya Joshi with the BJP.
Explaining his decision, Shekhar Suman revealed that he waited for the success of "Heeramandi" before making the leap into politics. "I didn't want people to think I had nothing else to do, that's why I joined politics. Heeramandi has now become a global hit," said the comedian-actor.
He attributed his entry into politics to what he believes is divine intervention. Quoting from Ram Charitmanas, he said, "It's all part of the divine plan." Suman expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, "Until yesterday, I didn't expect to be here today because life often takes unexpected turns. I am here with a positive mindset, and I thank God for guiding me."
