Indore: Polling has begun in 11 corporations in the first phase today to elect the municipal government in Madhya Pradesh. 14% polling has been recorded across the state till 9 am. These include 16% male and 12.5% female. Indore has recorded 25% polling in the first two hours. Only 6.44% polling has been recorded in Bhopal till 9 am. These include Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Ujjain, Sagar, Singrauli and Satna. Polling in 11 municipal corporations, 36 municipalities and 86 municipal councils is scheduled to begin at 7 am and continue till 5 pm.
A total of 133 civic bodies are working to cast their votes at 13,148 polling booths. The results are due on July 17. 101 candidates are in the fray for the mayor's post for 11 municipal corporations. At the same time, there are 2,850 posts for councillors for all three bodies. In reality, voting is going to take place for 2,808 posts. There are 11,250 candidates in the fray.
