In a recent interview with an anonymous media, Sonali Kulkarni worked with Hrithik in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film in 2000. Actress Sonali Kulkarni recalled her experience of working with Hrithik when he was new to the movie industry. Sonali said that she was only 25 years old at that time and she had no idea that she was going to play his foster mother on screen.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Sonal was asked if she had any hesitation about playing Hrithik's mother on screen and the actress said that she was more worried about playing Sanjay Dutt's wife on screen because she said she was too young. The actress further said, "I had no problem because I always felt that I wanted to act. I wanted to be someone else."
Sonali Kulkarni has given information and said that she got a call from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's office and was told that it was an audition for Sanjay Dutt's wife, which made her worried. "I thought they would not cast me because Sanjay Dutt is very tall. I had his height of 7 feet in my mind, I was thinking about his screen presence. I thought they would reject me."
After which, recalling her meeting with Hrithik on the day of audition, she said, "I met Hrithik on the day of audition. He said, 'Hi, I am Hrithik Roshan, Rakesh Roshan's son. I am a struggler.'
