New Delhi: Businessman Robert Vadra has addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments about "middlemen and sons-in-law" made during a rally in Sonipat. Modi had accused previous Congress governments in Haryana of fostering corruption, claiming that no job in the state was attainable without personal recommendations.

In his response, Vadra expressed surprise that the Prime Minister continues to reference him. "They've had their government in Haryana as well as at the Centre. I know that in the last decade, they have set up commissions," Vadra stated, specifically mentioning the Dhingra Commission, which was formed to investigate him and his businesses.

Vadra noted that despite numerous inquiries and requests for information regarding his land holdings in Haryana, no evidence of wrongdoing has been found. "They cannot prove anything because there was no wrongdoing in the way my companies have functioned," he asserted.

Critiquing the tone of Modi's remarks, Vadra said, "The way the Prime Minister used terms like Dalal and Damad is in poor taste. He’s the Prime Minister of a population of 1.4 billion; we expect much more from him." He believes that Modi is using his name to shift focus away from the government's failures in Haryana. "The people of Haryana are not happy with this government," Vadra added.

Vadra emphasized that he has received two clean chits from both state and central authorities, affirming his innocence. When discussing the upcoming elections in Haryana, he expressed confidence in the Congress party’s prospects. "Congress will do well because the people want change," he remarked, highlighting the BJP's poor handling of various issues, including allegations against former Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and the overall lack of progress on unemployment and infrastructure.

Vadra predicts a significant victory for Congress in Haryana, stating, "The people want change, and it's going to be inevitable."

In his Sonipat address, Prime Minister Modi had claimed, "Ten years ago, when there was a Congress government here, the farmers' lands were looted. The Congress had handed over Haryana to Dalals and Damads. There was no job that could be attained without cheating, and there was no organization free of corruption."
