Jaipur: In the year 1992, the country's biggest rape case was busted in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Journalist Madan Singh, who covered this gruesome and shocking incident, was murdered in the same year. Now after a long gap of almost 30 years, on January 7, 2023, the two sons of this late journalist gunned down a man and shouted that they had avenged their father's death.

According to the report, the man who was killed by the sons of late journalist Madan Singh was a history-sheeter and former councilor Sawai Singh. Sawai Singh was also an accused in Madan Singh's murder case. However, he was later acquitted by the court due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Now 30 years later, Sawai Singh was attacked in a resort in Banseli village of Pushkar. Sawai's friend Dinesh Tiwari is also said to be seriously injured in the attack. Surya Pratap Singh, one of the brothers who attacked Sawai Singh, has been arrested by the Rajasthan Police. At the same time, the second brother Dharam Pratap Singh is said to be absconding.

Surya Pratap was caught by the people present at the spot and handed over to the police. According to an eyewitness, Surya Pratap Singh said after being caught, "Sawai Singh killed my father, now I killed him. Next is Rajkumar Jaipal (former Congress MLA).'' Rajkumar Jaipal was also accused in the Madan Singh murder case, but he was also acquitted by the court.

Ajmer sex scandal and Madan Singh murder:

In 1992, when girls of a well-known school in Ajmer, 'Girls School Sophia', were raped and blackmailed, Madan Singh, who runs a weekly newspaper, strongly raised the issue. However, the Ajmer sex scandal also included the names of many big leaders and influential people, so Madan Singh was threatened several times to keep quiet earlier. But when Madan Singh continued to raise the issue, he was shot dead. Madan Singh was attacked on Srinagar Road. He was admitted to JLN Hospital in Ajmer after being injured in the attack. However, Madan Singh was shot dead inside the hospital. On the basis of the statement of Madan Singh's mother, a murder case was registered against former Congress MLA Rajkumar Jaipal, Sawai Singh, Narendra Singh, and others. However, in 2012, the court acquitted all the accused in this case which lasted for 20 years. Madan Singh's sons Surya Pratap and Dharam Pratap had once fired at Sawai Singh and Congress leader Jaipal, but both survived.

What is Ajmer sex scandal?

In 1992, more than 100 Hindu girls were trapped and raped in Ajmer. Their obscene pictures were taken fraudulently and they're blackmailed and asked to trap other girls and bring them to them. In this way, it became a complete chain of rape and blackmailing. Farooq Chishti, Nafees Chishti, and Anwar Chishti were the main accused in the case. All three were big leaders of the Youth Congress. Farooq Chishti was then the head of the Ajmer unit of the Indian Youth Congress. Nafees Chishti was vice president of the Ajmer unit of the Congress. Anwar Chishti was the Joint Secretary of the Congress in Ajmer. Not only this, but all the three accused were also Khadim of the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer. That is, the accused had both political and religious power, due to which no one could dare to raise their voice against them. At the same time, the girls who were raped were also not ordinary girls, most of them were daughters of big officers like IAS, and IPS. According to a report, the authorities were already aware of this, but no action was taken so that the matter could not be a Hindu-Muslim issue.

According to reports, the accused first raped the son of a businessman and took an obscene picture of him, and forced him to bring his girlfriend. After raping his girlfriend, the accused took obscene pictures of her and blackmailed the girl, and asked her to bring her friends. After this, this process started. Raping one girl after another, taking nude pictures of them, then blackmailing them to bring their sister, friend, sister-in-law, etc, and doing the same heinous acts with those girls – more than 100 Hindu girls were also raped, and many heinous acts were committed in this chain system. It is also said that politicians and government officials were among those who raped these school girls. But, the administration was silent regarding the tension between Hindus and Muslims.

Many of the girls who were raped and sexually photographed committed suicide. At the same time, 6-7 boys committed suicide. Because the administration did not come forward to save them. Their families were also silent due to fear of society and the public. Despite the efforts of many women's organizations, the families of the girls were not coming forward. No one opened their mouths because the accused involved in this gang had access to big leaders. Later, an NGO raised the issue and 30 girls were identified through photos and videos. The victims were talked to and asked to file a case, but many families refused in the name of defamation in society. Only 12 girls agreed to file the case. However, later, 10 more girls withdrew after receiving threats. The remaining two victims carried the case forward and these girls identified 16 accused.

What did the court do in the Ajmer sex case?

In 1992, the entire scandal came to light, after identifying the accused from the girls, 8 were arrested. In 1994, one of the accused, Purushottam, committed suicide after being released on bail. Six years later, the first judgment came in this case, the Ajmer District Court sentenced 8 people to life imprisonment. Meanwhile, Farooq Chisti was made mentally ill, due to which his trial was pending. Later, the district court reduced the sentence of the four accused and sentenced them to ten years in jail. The court was told that a 10-year jail term was sufficient. However, the Rajasthan government challenged the decision to reduce the sentence in the Supreme Court. However, the petition was dismissed. Another accused, Salim Nafees, was caught in 2012, 19 years after the Ajmer sex scandal, but he too came out of jail after being released on bail. Years have passed, but there is no new news about what happened to those rapists, how many leaders turned out to be rapists? Where is Salim Nafees? What happened to the main accused? Today, some of those dozens of daughters have committed suicide and many are forced to live by suppressing this fear in their hearts. Ironically, the country's biggest sex scandal, involving congress leaders to some people from Ajmer Dargah, in which more than 100 girls were raped, many attempts were made to suppress it.
