New Delhi: The current weather conditions in North India are being influenced by a Western Disturbance, leading to a forecast of moderate to heavy rain until February 5. A Western Disturbance is an extratropical storm system originating in the Mediterranean region that brings precipitation to the Indian subcontinent. In this case, an induced cyclonic circulation has formed over Northwest Rajasthan and nearby areas, intensifying the weather activity. Starting from February 3, another Western Disturbance is expected to affect Northwest India, maintaining the pattern of rain and snowfall.

The affected regions include Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with light to moderate rain and snowfall expected on Thursday and extending from February 3 to 5. Additionally, isolated areas in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand might experience heavy rain. Thursday will bring widespread light to moderate rainfall to Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan, with scattered showers continuing from February 3 to 4. The weather forecast also includes the possibility of hailstorms in specific areas.

Strong surface winds, ranging from 30-40 km/h, are anticipated on Thursday, especially over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh. Despite occasional breaks, the prevailing weather pattern indicates persistent light to moderate rain or snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across most of Northwest India until February 5. This meteorological information aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the anticipated weather conditions in the mentioned regions.
