Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, has urged Chhattisgarh voters to participate in large numbers during the ongoing second phase of the Chhattisgarh Assembly polls. He emphasized the significance of electing a government focused on "development, justice, and the welfare of the poor" to replace appeasement and corruption in the state.

Addressing the electorate through his official platform on 'X' after the commencement of voting for the remaining 70 seats, Shah called upon voters to exercise their franchise vigorously. He stated, "I appeal to all voters participating in the second phase of Chhattisgarh elections to cast their votes in maximum numbers. It's crucial to elect a government committed to ensuring the state's development, justice, and the welfare of the underprivileged by putting an end to appeasement and corruption. Your vote holds the power to safeguard Chhattisgarh's cultural heritage, tribal dignity, and women's safety."

The electoral battleground in Chhattisgarh primarily involves a contest between the ruling Congress and the BJP. Key leaders from both parties, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, conducted extensive public rallies during the campaign phase, presenting their respective agendas while criticizing their opponents.

The BJP, having previously held power in the state from 2003 to 2018, is striving to overturn the incumbent Congress government led by CM Baghel. Notable candidates vying for seats include Baghel himself, State Assembly Speaker Charandas Mahant, Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo, and BJP State President Arun Sao.

Voting will continue until 3 pm, with nine polling stations in the Bindranavagarh Assembly constituency open from 7 am to 3 pm. Across the 70 seats, Chhattisgarh has established over 18,800 polling stations, with a total of 958 candidates in contention.

Stringent security measures have been implemented to ensure a peaceful and impartial electoral process. The state's electorate comprises over two crore voters. The vote count is scheduled for December 3.
