VIJAYWADA : Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday urged schools, local governments, panchayats, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to hold regular camps on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to acquaint children with the life-saving procedure. The training should also be included in high school or college curricula, said the Vice President.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is a lifesaving method that can be used in a number of contexts, such as a heart attack or near drowning, in which the person's breathing or heartbeat can be restarted by pounding the person's chest with forceful and fast chest compressions.
At an awareness workshop held at Swarna Bharat Trust in Vijayawada, where doctors from the Indian Resuscitation Council Federation (IRCF) demonstrated CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Naidu emphasised the significance of learning these life-saving skills.
The Vice-President praised the IRCF for their efforts in providing training in basic life support, comprehensive cardiac life support, and paediatric advanced life support courses, and encouraged medical students to visit local schools and villages to raise awareness about CPR and the use of AEDs.
