On Monday, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal staged a protest in Bantwal, Mangaluru, Karnataka, triggered by a social media post. The Superintendent of Police (SP) for Dakshin Kannada, Yatish N, mentioned that he could not disclose the details of the issue.

To manage the situation, police personnel and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) were deployed. Protesters were seen pushing against police barricades while continuing their demonstration.

The Dakshin Kannada SP noted that they had made necessary arrangements for the protest and were taking steps to prevent any disturbances ahead of the Eid-e-Milad festival. "We are ensuring that no untoward incidents occur in Bantwal or elsewhere in the district. There is an issue involving a few people that I cannot disclose. We aim to keep everything peaceful, and anyone disrupting the peace will face legal action," the SP said.

Public reactions on social media varied, with some users criticizing the Karnataka government for not handling the situation more effectively. One user suggested that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should take a firmer stance against the protesters, while another labeled the Bajrang Dal as a "terrorist organization."

There were also comments linking the protests to West Bengal, with one user urging the Karnataka government to conduct a covert operation to address what they described as similar tactics used in West Bengal.
