Dehradun: Uttarakhand, a picturesque Himalayan state, boasts numerous stunning destinations tucked away in its scenic landscapes. While some spots are well-known among tourists, some beautiful places are still away from the sight of the tourists. To shed light on these lesser-known places, the state tourism department has taken a proactive step by collaborating with IRCTC to introduce special trains.

UTDB Partners with IRCTC for Unique Tourist Train Experience: The Uttarakhand Tourism Department Board (UTDB) has sealed a partnership with IRCTC to launch a special Tourist Train from various parts of the country, aiming to showcase undiscovered destinations in Uttarakhand. State tourism minister Shri Satpal Maharaj lauds this move as a significant decision to highlight lesser-explored areas within the state.

First Train to Focus on Manas Khand Mandir Mala Mission Sites: As part of the Manas Khand Mandir Mala Mission, the Uttarakhand government has earmarked 16 temples in the Kumaon division for development, with improved facilities and transportation. Building upon this initiative, the state tourism department intends to operate trains to facilitate access to these temples, thereby introducing tourists to lesser-known spots in Uttarakhand.

Inaugural Journey Scheduled for April 15th: The inaugural train promoting destinations under the Manas Khand Mandir Mala Mission is set to embark on its journey on April 15th, 2024. Speaking at the announcement, Shri Satpal Maharaj praised UTDB's innovative approach as a significant step towards promoting tourism in lesser-known areas of the state. He also revealed plans for the train to connect various destinations within the Manas Khand region.

Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj revealed that the exclusive train, equipped with 2AC coaches, will accommodate up to 500 guests per trip. Additionally, IRCTC will oversee end-to-end services, including onboard meals, accommodation, transportation, and sightseeing arrangements. Looking ahead, the train service will extend from different parts of the country, such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Odisha, to promote destinations like Kartik Swami Temple in Rudraprayag and Jagannath Temple in Uttarkashi.
