Dehradun: The process of demolition of unsafe houses in Joshimath, Uttarakhand has intensified. Meanwhile, the Government has started providing help to the disaster victims. So far, 53 affected families have been given the assistance of Rs 5000 per family. At the same time, financial assistance of Rs 1.30 lakh per building has been given to the affected people of 10 damaged buildings. Along with this, food kits and blankets have also been distributed to the affected families as per their requirements.

According to the report, a total of 70 food kits and 70 blankets have been provided to the victims so far. Also, 570 liters of milk have been distributed among the affected. At the same time, a total of 80 affected people have been medically examined. It is being told that due to landslides, a total of 723 buildings in the Joshimath area have shown cracks. As many as 131 families have been temporarily displaced for security reasons. Meanwhile, officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and The National Disaster Management Authority (NDRF) met Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami to know about the situation in Joshimath and stressed the need to ascertain the location of underground waterlogging in the subsidy zones.  

It is believed that the area where the water has accumulated under the ground is in Joshimath, but the source of the water has not been ascertained yet. A central team of officials has said that a geological survey should also be conducted in the identified areas for rehabilitation of the affected people. Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Sinha told reporters on Monday that the help of scientists of all the institutions concerned will be taken to resolve the issue and the state government will be given all possible help from the Centre.
