Uttarakhand's Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, extended his warm greetings to the public on Hindi Diwas, emphasizing that Hindi transcends being merely a language; it is a conduit for expressing emotions that unify the entire nation of India.

In a statement made through X, Pushkar Singh Dhami conveyed, "I extend my heartfelt wishes to all on the occasion of Hindi Diwas. Hindi is not just a linguistic thread that binds the diverse tapestry of India but also serves as an embodiment of our sentiments."

He further urged everyone to pledge their commitment to raising awareness for the promotion of Hindi, our mother tongue, as a symbol of patriotism, cultural richness, and prosperity.

Hindi Diwas is commemorated annually on September 14, a day when India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, officially declared its observance. The Constituent Assembly of India, on September 14, 1949, recognized Hindi in the Devanagari script as the official language of the Union, alongside English as the second official language. This constitutional recognition of Hindi as India's official language was formalized on January 26, 1950, coinciding with the country's adoption of its Constitution. The inclusion of Hindi as an official language aimed to streamline administrative functions in a linguistically diverse nation. Currently spoken natively by 258 million people, Hindi ranks as the fourth most widely spoken language globally.
