Lucknow: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Uttar Pradesh will now also teach about Sanatana Dharma. After praising PM Narendra Modi at the virtual function held under the centenary year celebrations of AMU, the Islamic Studies Department has now taken steps towards the study of Sanatana Dharma. The department is now going to start a new course, through which students will also be taught Sanatana Dharma.
Professor Mohammed Ismail, chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies of AMU, said that the department is now starting a comparative release course. Through this course, students of graduation and post-graduation will be taught Sanatana Dharma. Along with this, knowledge of many other religions will also be given in other universities. In fact, PM Modi was the chief guest at the virtual ceremony held at the centenary year celebrations of AMU. During this time, PM Modi praised the Islamic Studies Department of AMU. He had said that foreign students should also be made aware of India's culture. In this order, the Department is now starting a new course called Comparative Religion.
In this course, students will be taught about Sanatana Dharma, as well as information about other religions. College officials say the course will be started in the department from the next academic session. This has already been discussed in the Board of Studies and academic council. Now it remains to be sealed. At the same time, the AMU administration is considering removing the books of Pakistan and Egypt writers taught in the department of Islamic Studies from its curriculum. Both these books were taught to MA and BA students of the university. More than 20 academicians, including social activist Madhu Kishwar, have written a letter to PM Modi in this regard. All the books and courses of Pakistani author Maulana Abul Ala Maududi and Sayyid Qutb of Egypt are likely to be removed by the AMU administration from the Department of Islamic Studies.
