The Supreme Court bench asked the UPSC to make separate arrangements for 'cough-cold' aggrieved candidates, so that other candidates would not get infected. On the other hand, the Union Public Service Commission informed in its affidavit during the ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court that if the Civil Services Preliminary Examination is canceled, there may be a loss of Rs 50 crore.

Hearing on a petition filed in the Supreme Court for cancellation of Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2020 is being held today (September 30). The petition was earlier heard on September 28, in which a bench of Supreme Court judges Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Sanjeev Khanna had asked the Union Public Service Commission and the Central Government to file their reply in the case. Based on the previous hearing, the UPSC was supposed to file an affidavit by September 29 and the case was to on September 30.

Earlier, the hearing on the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2020 proposed by UPSC on 4 October was held on 25 September. A total of 20 UPSC candidates, including Vasireddy Goverdhan Sai Prakash, have approached  the Supreme Court for cancellation of the preliminary exam. On the other hand, the cancellation of the exam has also been pleaded by an officer of the rank of Assistant Commandant. Also, proper security arrangements will be made regarding the guidelines issued by the health ministry to curb coronavirus pandemic.
