The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced a recruitment drive for 45 new positions, including 10 joint secretaries and 35 directors or deputy secretaries. These roles will be filled through lateral entry on a contract basis.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strategy to introduce new talent into the Indian government to enhance governance. The new appointees will assume significant roles within various central ministries.
Typically, these positions are occupied by officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Forest Service (IFoS), as well as other Group A services. However, this recruitment will focus on experts from the private sector and other fields.
